Injection Mold Cleaning
Laser cleaning clears resin residue, outgassing deposits, and burn marks from mold cavities and vent lines without abrasion — polished and textured tooling surfaces come through unchanged.

Why laser for mold cleaning?
Every other way of cleaning a mold involves a trade-off you don't want. Abrasive pads and blasting round off parting lines and dull polished cavities a little more each cycle. Chemical cleaning means disassembly, soak time, and residue in the vents. Dry ice gets close, but struggles with baked-on outgassing in tight geometry. The laser vaporizes the fouling without mechanical contact — A-surfaces, textures, and EDM finishes are preserved through unlimited cleaning cycles.
What does it remove?
- Resin and polymer residue in cavities and on parting lines
- Outgassing buildup in vents — restores venting without re-cutting
- Burn marks and gas stains
- Rust and storage corrosion on tool steel
In place, or at our shop?
Both. Molds can be cleaned in the press in many cases — no teardown, minimal downtime — or benched and brought to us in Riverside. For shops running scheduled maintenance windows across the Inland Empire's manufacturing corridor, we can time on-site visits to your changeovers.
Frequently asked questions
Does laser cleaning wear down polished mold surfaces?
No. The laser is tuned to the residue layer and the tool steel reflects it — there’s no mechanical contact and no abrasive. Polish, texture, and EDM finishes are unchanged even over repeated cleanings, which is the core advantage over pads and blasting.
Can you clean molds without pulling them from the press?
Often, yes. If there’s line-of-sight access to the cavity, in-press cleaning is possible and cuts changeover downtime substantially. Where geometry doesn’t allow it, benched molds at our shop turn around quickly.
Does laser cleaning restore blocked vent lines?
Yes — outgassing deposits vaporize out of vents at their original depth. No re-cutting, no dimensional change, which means venting performance returns to spec rather than being machined deeper.
